Preparation is where quotes actually differ
Two painting quotes for the same apartment can differ by half, and it is almost never the paint. It is whether cracks are raked out and taped or simply filled, whether surfaces are sanded and dust-free, and whether a primer appropriate to the substrate is used at all.
Ask how many coats, and what the recoat interval is
Two finish coats over primer is the standard. Applying the second coat before the first has cured produces a soft film that marks as soon as it is wiped, and that is a repaint rather than a touch-up. A contractor who commits to a recoat interval in writing is planning to honour it.
Named products, not 'good quality paint'
Your quotation should name the brand and product line. Jotun, Berger and National Paints are the common UAE choices, and each has budget and premium lines that behave very differently in this climate. 'Premium paint' with no product named is not a specification.
Exterior work is season-dependent
October to April for exterior elevations. A contractor happy to paint a sun-facing wall in July is either inexperienced or hoping you will not see the roller marks until they have been paid. Ask when they would schedule it and why.
What should be included without being asked
Furniture moved and sheeted, fittings removed rather than painted around, edges cut in by hand, and the site cleared and vacuumed. City Walk Cleaning Services includes all four and names the paint product on the quotation. Interior painting is quoted after an inspection.
Want a fixed written quote to compare?
Inspection, no obligation. Compare it against anything else you have. Send us a message and we will confirm an inspection slot, usually the same day.
