Mould & Humidity

Leaving a Home Closed for the Summer

The single most common mould call we take arrives in September, from a family who left in June and set the AC to off.

What matters, and why.

Why it happens

A sealed home in a UAE summer reaches high internal humidity within days. Without cooling or air movement, wardrobes, leather, and any cool surface become growth sites.

What to do instead

Leave the system running at a moderate set point rather than off. It costs less than the remediation and far less than replacing damaged furniture.

Before you go

Interior doors open, wardrobes slightly ajar, extracts checked, drains run so traps do not dry out, and anything leather or fabric moved away from external walls.

Coming back

Ventilate before assuming everything is fine. A smell on return is worth investigating rather than masking.

If this is something you would rather hand over, our mould treatment and deep cleaning is scoped at an inspection and confirmed in writing before any work begins. We will also tell you when a job does not need us.

Questions

Answered plainly.

Warm enough to be economical, cool enough to control humidity. Somewhere in the mid to high twenties is the usual compromise.

In a small apartment sometimes. In a villa, air movement matters too.

Periodic visits can be arranged under a maintenance arrangement, with photographs after each one.
