Finding Damp Before It Becomes Mould

A thermal camera does not see moisture. It sees temperature difference, and damp materials are cooler. That distinction matters for reading the result honestly.

What it finds

Cool patches behind finishes where evaporation is occurring — the signature of a leak, a cold bridge or a failed seal.

What it cannot do

It cannot see through insulation reliably, and a cool patch can have other explanations. It narrows the search; a moisture meter confirms it.

When it is worth doing

Recurring mould, an unexplained smell, a stain that returns after repainting, or before buying a property.

Images with the readings, the locations marked, and a plain description of what we think is happening — including where we are not certain.
