Deep Cleaning Checklist: Room by Room

What a proper deep clean covers in every room, so you can check a quote against it before you book.

Kitchen

Extractor hood, filters and canopy degreased. Hob, oven interior, racks and door glass. Splashback and worktops descaled. Cabinet fronts wiped and interiors cleared, contents replaced. Fridge and microwave interiors. Floor edges and behind appliances where they can be moved safely.

Bathrooms

Shower glass descaled back to clear. Tile and grout lines cleaned. Sanitaryware, taps and chrome descaled. Extractor grille cleaned. Silicone lines cleaned and mould-treated. Mirrors, cabinets and floor edges. Natural stone gets a neutral product, never an acidic descaler.

Bedrooms and living areas

High-level dusting including cornices, vents and light fittings. Skirting, door frames, hinges and switch plates. Interior glass, window tracks, frames and sills. Wardrobe interiors on request. Upholstery and mattresses vacuumed. Floors vacuumed and mopped to the edges, not just the middle.

Balconies and outdoor

Floor wash-down including grout and edges. Drain located, cleared and flow tested. Balustrade glass both faces where reachable. Railings and metal fittings degreased. Ceiling, soffit and light fittings dusted.

What is usually excluded from a cheap quote

Inside cupboards, inside appliances, window tracks and balconies. These four are the most common exclusions, and they are also the four that take the longest. If a quotation does not name them, ask whether they are in or out before you book.
