Fine Dust After a Renovation, and Why One Clean Is Not Enough

Gypsum and cement dust resettles for days. A single pass looks finished and is not, which is why the property looks dusty again the next morning.

What matters, and why.

Three passes

Bulk debris and cement haze first. A second pass once the dust has resettled. A third for detail — tracks, grilles, skirting, light fittings and glass.

Why the second pass is skipped

It is invisible in a quotation and it is where the cost sits. A single-visit quote for post-renovation work has not accounted for the physics.

HEPA collection

Fine construction dust passes straight through a domestic vacuum and back into the room. Collection matters more here than on any other job.

The air system

Filters changed and returns cleaned at the end, not the beginning. Running the system through a fit-out is how dust reaches rooms that were never touched.

If this is something you would rather hand over, our specialist cleaning and restoration is scoped at an inspection and confirmed in writing before any work begins. We will also tell you when a job does not need us.

Questions

Answered plainly.

Against the fit-out programme, not the move-in date. It needs the trades finished and the space empty.

Cement and grout haze needs a specific treatment and does not respond to ordinary cleaning. Confirm it is in the scope.

Better not to. Furniture arriving mid-sequence means the remaining dust settles onto it.
