What 'Eco-Friendly' Should Actually Mean

The phrase is unregulated, so it is worth knowing which parts of it are checkable and which are marketing.

What matters, and why.

Checkable properties

Biodegradable surfactants, no phosphates, low volatile organic compounds, low residue. These are specifications, not adjectives.

Method beats product

Removing dry soil before any moisture, correct dwell times and microfibre reduce chemical use more than switching brands ever does.

Water and waste

A crew arriving with a van of single-use plastic and running taps continuously is not operating sustainably regardless of what is in the bottles.

Where stronger chemistry is honest

Heavy limescale and commercial degreasing genuinely need it. The right response is to schedule it properly and ventilate, not to substitute something ineffective.

If this is something you would rather hand over, our marble and hard surface care is scoped at an inspection and confirmed in writing before any work begins. We will also tell you when a job does not need us.

Questions

Answered plainly.

For most household soil, no. For heavy scale and grease, stronger chemistry works better and we say so.

No. Water is a chemical, and anything that cleans does so chemically. Ask what is in it instead.

Not automatically. Ask specifically rather than assuming.
