Nano Coatings: What They Do and Where They Do Not Belong

A nano coating is a very thin protective layer. Useful in the right place, pointless or harmful in the wrong one.

What matters, and why.

How it works

The coating changes the surface energy so liquids bead and sit on top instead of soaking in. It buys you time to wipe a spill before it becomes a stain.

Where it suits

Sealed stone, glass, sanitary ware, and fabric on high-use furniture. On glass in a hard-water shower it makes a visible difference.

Where it does not

Anything that needs to breathe, anything already damaged, and anything unsealed and porous where the coating will trap what is underneath.

Honest expectations

It is protection, not permanence. It wears in traffic areas and it needs reapplying. Anyone offering a permanent coating is overselling.

If this is something you would rather hand over, our marble and hard surface care is scoped at an inspection and confirmed in writing before any work begins. We will also tell you when a job does not need us.

Questions

Answered plainly.

It reduces staining. It does not stop acid reaching the stone, and no coating does.

Months to a couple of years depending on the surface and traffic. We tell you the realistic interval for your surface.

Once cured, yes. The cure period is stated before we start.
